A lot has transpired since the observatory was build in 2005. I have added my 30ft trailer as a "Warm room" and  computer room for visitors to use to process images, or just to catch a few ours sleep. It has 3 workstations inside and enough room to sleep 4 comfortably.

I have also added 115v power to the site to enable computers, and anything requiring a 115v supply to function. This was done by stringing power lines through the trees from the cottage to the Observatory. This was a 500 ft span to cover, and no easy task! Each outlet is supplied  by a separate circuit breaker to ensure no power interruptions due to overloaded circuits.

One of the big problems I encountered was SNOW!...if snow gets on the rails...the building cannot be moved...Check out the pic! As you can see I get a lot of snow, and most times it covers the rails so much that digging out is not an option...how to resolve this?....put a roof over the rails!....actually more like barn doors that can easily be shovelled off and removed. (detailed  pictures to follow). As you can see from the second picture, it is simply a 4x8 sheet of plywood that sits over the rails to protect them from snow. This has worked perfectly, and now I can use the observatory all year long....as long as I can trudge through the snow to get there!.
