Background
During my High School years I participated in hockey,
football, track and a couple of non team sports. When I
entered 1st year university my involvement in sports soon
fell off. I did not enter a gym until I was 37. Within 3
months I was hooked. I focused on strength training only and
learned routines and form from ‘the guys’. Years later I was
injured trying to muscle through a routine. Some pain is
necessary right? Wrong! I pulled a tendon in my right arm.
This, together with shoulder damage from doing heavy bench
presses improperly meant that I was unable to lift weights
for some months. I began running simply because I could not
do anything else. My 1st run was on a treadmill and lasted
about 12 minutes and completely exhausted me. However, I
kept at it and began to enjoy running. I began challenging
myself…5K, 10Ks, ½ and full marathons, triathlons and
duathlons.
Philosophy
I believe in a balanced approach to fitness; a program which
includes core strength, muscular strength and endurance,
balance and flexibility, bone density and cardiovascular
conditioning. A personalized program, with emphasis on your
particular objectives can help you achieve your goals. I
enjoy working with people new to fitness and being part of
their progress.
