Bootleg Notes
Much confusion and jumbled versions of both of these shows exist. A detailed and meticulous comparison of numerous sources (thanks Steve !) has revealed the separation between the early and late shows and the corresponding dialogue.
Early Show
This is an upgraded version from a very low generation cassette. Another cassette had about 10 minutes of dialogue from the show, but a complete transcript of the Early show discussions and events can be found here. By using this transcript, the available dialogue was placed between the appropriate tracks in order.
The “Technique Demonstration” includes an excerpt from Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze.
Late Show
A virtually complete recording of the late show has been assembled and compiled from a double CD-R version that included all of this “late show” as well as part of the early show. The early show portion for the disks were omitted in favour of the superior quality cassette version.

Notes
An excellent official release from DGM which synchronizes Fripp’s original backing loops with the good quality audience bootleg of solos played on top interspersed with Fripp’s own personal recordings of the lecture portions. This new DGM release is easily the most complete possible.
Both for purchase directly from DGM below
Fripp appears to have employed the Frippertronics Variation I method throughout both performances.
The distance between the Revoxes must have been quite large as it has resulted in delay times of almost 6 seconds for these performances (as opposed to the usual 3 to 4 seconds).
Fripp’s backing loop for the First Performance Loop III And Solo for some unknown reason was only monophonic, therefore the right channel was digitally recreated for listening balance.
It appears that these pieces have been performed or recreated using the “normal Frippertronics delay system” or style which has the shorter 175ms delay between left and right channels : First Performance Loop III And Solo Second Performance Loop III Second Performance Loop III And Solo
First Performance - Loop I has an opening unrepeated note. |
