Notes
Remastered and enhanced with studio version backing solo-less backing loops.
The 2nd Annual Tribal Stomp Festival - A 2-Day Event Fripp was one of many performers including headliners The Clash. Some of the other performers included Maria Muldaur, The Mighty Diamonds, Earl Zero & Joe Ely. Some reports have Fripp performing erroneously and/or on September 9th. Fripp only performed on the 8th. Although the Fairgrounds was equipped to hold 12,000 people, there were only 500 in attendance (apparently mostly hippies - see photo below). Most likely due to the bizarre combination of cultures and festival acts.
1983 is from Madame Wong’s 1979/07/25 - 1st House God Save the Queen is from Bear’s Lair 1970/07/30 - Evening Show
Fripp actually plays the opening melody from God Save the Queen on 1897 Over God Save the Queen.
Interestingly, just as Fripp’s performance of God Save the Queen ends, an airplane is heard flying overhead, which sounded very much like the solos he was performing !
Also...the introduction was delivered by the infamous “Wavy Gravy” ….thanks George for that tidbit. |
