Notes
Remastered and pitch-corrected to God Save the Queen LP Version.
Both versions of God Save the Queen have been augmented with the LP version. The left channel monophonically panned to the center for the “creation version” (as this is where the original mono loop was actually created) and the full stereo version for 1764 Over God Save the Queen to best simulate what would have been heard.
It appears that Fripp actually chopped out a few uneventful repetitions here and there on the LP versions…perhaps to facilitate fitting onto the vinyl easily. I have very carefully compensated and made loop copies to fill these gaps.
The last half of both versions of The Zero of the Signified have been enhanced with the similar mono and stereo enhancements. The first half has been left intact as no available official version exists without the “Discotronic” contributions of Busta Jones, Paul Duskin and Fripp himself. Portions of The Zero of the Signified are missing from both the mono (two sections in the middle of the track) and the stereo replay is missing the beginning and the ending. The mono version gaps have been crossfaded together at loop points and the stereo version has been augmented with either a stereo simulation of the mono version for the beginning and the official LP version for the ending.
The dialogue sections have been EQ’d to maximize intelligibility.
Unfortunately the “magic” moment Fripp has recounted on numerous occasions, where a audience member called out for him to play “Star Spangled Banner” is not intelligible on this recording, although it is there. The audience laughs after Fripp says “I believe someone already did that”. This of course led to the creation of “God Save The Queen”, which you can hear him relate the notation to the audience and then proceeds to create the now infamous backing loop. |
