Bootleg Notes
Excellent quality recording. Truly superb. Possibly the finest known audience recording of the tour.
Discussion portions have been enhanced to increase audibility. Fripp spoke without amplification to the audience. The opening few loops of “1787 Over 1789” were missed and have been restored with the beginning of the original 1789.
1787 Over 1789 concludes with the main theme from King Crimson’s Starless. |

Official DGM Release Notes
Improv III and Solo concludes with the main theme from King Crimson’s Starless.
The first piece has been split into two Improv sections (I & II) and Improv and Solo (I & II), although there is no actual break in the performances. We believe it was simply for reference purposes as an arbitrary halfway point due to its length.
This recording was sent directly to DGM Live and subsequently tweaked and finally officially released by DGM Live on June 29, 2007.
A photo taken during one of the Q & A sessions appeared in Billboard on August 4, 1979. It can be seen here at DGM Live.
This DGM upload differs from subsequent Frippertronics offerings such that it was NOT synchronized with Fripp’s backing loops as they had not yet been discovered. These tapes are believed to be in the DGM archives and hopefully synchronized and re-vamped at some time in the future.
The 2nd Q And A segment has been marked as incomplete and no more complete source is known to exist.
The live performance photo used for the DGM Live cover was taken by Joep Bruinje on May 7, 1979 at the Theatre Populier in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which can be viewed here among other photos. |
