The final French date tour details regarding show dates and venues was finally confirmed by Robert Fripp’s personal tour itinerary displayed on DGM Live here on November 14, 2008
The June 1975 issue of Vibraciones (No. 9) in Spain, indicates these Ω cities are scheduled for the upcoming tour.
However, issue # 84 of Best magazine from France, gives more information as to what actually took place. It reports that the show in Lyon, France was cancelled due to some problem with the venue. The show in nearby Sainte-Étienne encountered technical difficulties about halfway through the show. The PA system failed and could not be restored. Fripp and Eno left the stage when the boos and whistles became louder than the music itself. A second Paris Olympia show was also mentioned, but was never confirmed and subsequently never took place.

In an interview with Fripp in Wire (May 1997), he also mentions that Fripp & Eno were booed off at their “debut performance” in France., but it was in fact the 2nd date in France at which this occurred.
An ad in Vibraciones May 1975 lists the first two Spanish dates and venues. Fripp’s diary reprinted in KCCC # 2 states that three days after the show in Madrid, they were “booed off” in France. In actuality it was five days later.
Eric Tamm’s book on King Crimson & Robert Fripp erroneously mentions Italy, as another show on this Fripp & Eno tour, which is in error. Fripp also mentioned in a 1981 interview with Musician magazine that there were seven dates played on this tour : Madrid, Badalona, Bordeaux, Sainte-Etienne, Paris, Kent & London.
A 1975 interview with Fripp on the Old Grey Whistle Test also exists. Exact date and relevance (if any) to this tour is unknown. |
