Total Time : 1 CD Version = 80 min

                     2 CD Version = 135 min

Notes

Remastered with ALL tape flaws, mic noises, dropouts etc. meticulously repaired.

No gaps or fadeouts...one long continuous drone.

This is the best version I’ve heard amongst many.

Compiled from 4 different source recordings all with various edits throughout.

(Even Spaces, Air Structures, Stars in Paris & an Italian cassette version)

Single CD Version includes all non-released portions of the show.

Double CD Version includes the playbacks of Discreet Music (or Wind on Wind) and

An Index of Metals, which are virtually identical to the officially released versions,

with additional audience noise.

It is possible that Eno actually performed Discreet Music as he had the facility to do so.

There are a few note clusters that appear to be different  than the official version.

It would also be the equivalent to either the left or right side of that recording (not both).

Discreet Music is actually two separate mono recordings played back simultaneously

and panned hard left and right.

Henceforth it was named Discreet Music I & II on the original vinyl Obscure release.

A short French language PA announcement presumably by one of the

event organizers or members of the venue staff, occurs during Discreet Music.

A rough translation into English reads as follows :

"I'd like to tell you a message that's not very nice,

but we have to obey the theater's rules.

I've got to say that the Police have noticed a lot of cigarettes this evening…

[crowd whistles]…I'm sorry...but, you've come here to watch a show...

so you'll have to stop smoking...Thanks...

And I'll have to ask the people who own cameras with flashes…

I have been asked by Mr. Fripp to request you to stop flashing.

Please take your pictures with more [light] sensitive film...Thank you very much."

A rare live photo from this Paris show displays both members performing

with Malcolm Le Grice’s “Berlin Horse” short film projected behind them.

Front cover image is from the “Air Structures” vinyl bootleg release (artist unknown).

Another vinyl version “Even Spaces” has different artwork, but is otherwise identical.

Both of these versions contain only the portion from the show start until

part way through “It Is For Us, But Not For You”.

Two other CD versions have also emerged and contain what constitutes Side Three

of either of these vinyl releases in addition to some live material of

Eno and the Winkies from his brief aborted tour in 1974.

A much clearer and better version of Eno’s live material can be found on another

bootleg CD entitled “Dali’s Car”.

A portion of this performance of “Wind on Water” serves as part of the official “Evening Star” released version, which was combined with additional studio overdubs.

According to the concert account in Best Issue 84, Fripp & Eno left the stage three times.

Firstly, during “Wind on Wind” possibly due to Fripp’s irritation at the flash photography,

during which time the house lights came up (like an intermission).

This accounts for it’s half hour playback duration and the ensuing PA announcement.

Secondly, during “It Is For Us, But Not For You” as evidenced by the audience applause at the beginning and end of this piece (signifying leaving and returning to the stage).

Thirdly, and lastly leaving for good during the tape playback of “An Index of Metals”, known to be pre-recorded at Eno’s Studio sometime in early 1975.

For all shows prior to the 1979 World Tour,  Fripp did not utilize signal by-pass switches,

which provides the ability to make “beeping” sounds or square wave volume envelopes.

All guitar notes were either “swept in” via the volume pedal or played directly.
