Our McTavish history is traced to John McTavish and his wife Jean Menzies. John and Jean were married in Balquhidder Parish, Perth County, Scotland on March 11, 1831. Their family of nine children are recorded in the Aberfoyle Parish, Perth County, Old Parochial Register.

Duncan McTavish and Hannah Wright were married in St. Ninians Parish, Stirling County, Scotland, on February 25, 1866, and in a civil ceremony in the village of Torbrex in Stirling County on March 9,1866. Their civil marriage registration shows Duncan's occupation as a shepherd and Hannah's occupation as a cook.

The 1881 Census of Scotland records the address of Hannah & Duncan and their four children as "Blantyre Farm" in Blantyre Parish, Lanark County, and records Duncan's occupation as a "Coachman and Domestic". Hannah died in Blantyre Parish March 1, 1890 at the age of 54. Duncan died in Lochead, Aberfoyle on Jun 26 1910, his death registration shows his usual residence as Blantyre Farm.
