Obituaries - Mar. 18, 2006

BLACK, Vern Everand - Gone to be with his Lord on Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, surrounded by his family. Vern Black of Barrie, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Schultz). Dear father of Murray of Keene, Ontario, Dorothy Adair and her husband Grant of Moonstone, Howard and his wife Jane of Midhurst, Bob and his wife Sue missionaries in Ethiopia, Beth Fellows and her husband Tom of Barrie and Carol Apokremiotis and her husband Demetrius also of Barrie. Loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Vern will be sadly missed by his brother Murray of Stoney Creek and by his sister Muriel of Hamilton. Friends may call at the Jennett Chapel of the McClelland & Slessor Funeral Home, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Hwy. 27 in Barrrie on Tuesday, March 21 at 11 a.m. Spring interment Barrie Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to S.I.M. for the construction of an education centre and church in Bahirdar, Ethiopia.
