Wizard and the Food

Some friends are coming round tonight,
To chat and drink and have a bite.
The food looks good, I’ve tasted some,
I think there might be more to come!

They told me that I should be good,
And not to jump or beg for food,
Just sit down quietly on my bed,
And wait for them to pat my head.

They’ve left me here while they get dressed,
In nice clean clothes to look their best.
I know these friends will soon be here,
And all that food will disappear!

They’ll never know I’ve had a lick,
Of cheese and onion on a stick,
Or just a taste of ham on bread,
Or maybe I’ll have beef instead!

That food! So good I couldn’t stop,
I ate so much, I think I’ll drop,
My tummy’s sore, I feel quite ill,
I think I’d better just lie still!

They’re mad again! I hear them shout,
"Wizard, what’s this all about?
We told you that you should be good,
And now you’ve eaten all the food!"

I didn’t jump, I didn’t beg,
Who’s going to miss one chicken leg?
Some cheese and onion on a stick...
Excuse me now, I must be sick!!
