Wizard and the Mud

My hair is brushed, my paws are clean,
But that cat Sparky, is being mean,
He ran outside to hide from me,
I think he’s there! Behind that tree.

I’ll creep up quietly, through this grass,
And round that bush. I won’t go fast,
So he won’t even know I’m there,
And then I’ll give him such a scare!

I’ll jump out quickly, bark and growl,
And then you’ll hear old Sparky howl!
Oh! He’s not here, where can he be?
I see his tail! He’s climbed that tree!

I’ll just pretend that I don’t know,
He’s there and have some fun below.
It’s wet and muddy on the ground,
Come and see what I have found!

A great big puddle, very deep,
I made some splashes with my feet!
I rolled around and then lay down,
My coat is now a muddy brown!

Sparky clambered down the tree,
Then stopped in fright, in front of me.
He arched his back, put out his claws,
And then ran off without a pause.

I followed him back to the door,
Then straight across the kitchen floor,
Through the hall and up the stairs,
We scrambled over beds and chairs.

A trail of mud we left behind,
I really didn’t think they’d mind!
But now they’re mad at me once more,
I think I’ve heard all this before!

“Oh Wizard, you’re a naughty pup,
Come over here, I’ll clean you up.”
I hear the water for my bath,
And then I hear that Sparky laugh!

It’s all his fault I’m in this state,
I’ll pay him back, just you wait!
I’m going to make a secret plot,
But not today, it’s much too hot!
