Creed

While sleeping in my favourite spot,
I heard a bark, "What’s this?" I thought,
Another dog come by to play?
We’ll have some fun, hip hip hooray!

I heard some feet come down the path,
Then some voices. Was that a laugh?
Who said? "Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll be,
The best of friends, just wait and see!"

I looked across and looked some more,
I know she barked, she didn’t roar!
I hardly could believe my eyes,
I’ve never seen a dog that size!

She’s brown, not white, her legs are long,
She’s not a dog, I must be wrong!
I know she’s not a horse - or cow,
I guess I’d better meet her now.

"Come on, Wizard, come and say,
Hello to Creed, she’s come to play.
Although she’s big, she’s gentle too,
Let her have a look at you."

I stood up straight and walked across,
I’ll have to show this dog who’s boss!
But she lay down and rolled around,
And thumped her tail upon the ground!

She waved her legs up in the air,
She looked so silly lying there!
She’s just a dog, the same as me,
But not a Westie, I can see.

They told me all about her breed,
But I’m just glad her name is Creed,
‘Cause I just can’t recall the rest,
Rott--something, but I’m not impressed!

She may be big and brown and tall,
Compared to her, I’m really small,
Apart from that, we’re just the same,
Two friends, there’s nothing in a name!
