Conspicuous Gallantry Medal

The medal was awarded to Chief Petty Officers, Petty Officers and men of the navy (or army or air force personnel of equal rank serving with the fleet) who distinguished themselves by acts of pre-eminent bravery in action with the enemy.
Medal:
 
  Circular, 1.42 inches silver
 
Obverse:
 
   King George VI: crowned effigy of monarch facing left and a legend GEORGEIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP: (for WWII)
 
Reverse:
 
   Shows the legend FOR CONSPICUOUS GALLANTRY in three lines, encircled by a laurel wreath and surmounted by a Imperial Crown.
 
Bars:
 
   A silver, laurelled bar was awarded for additional acts of pre-eminent bravery.
 
Ribbon:
 
  The ribbon is 1¼ inches wide: consists of three vertical stripes: dark blue, white and dark blue.
