Dining
The best meals you will eat are of course
the ones you create yourself, using either the indoor
cooking facilities (range, toaster-oven, microwave
oven) or the outside propane barbeque. The second
best will be, ahem, the first night dinner provided
by your hosts Graeme & Nancy, made all the better
by your presence at the table.
There may be occasions when you just
might want to get out and let someone else do the
cooking, so here is a partial list of what might interest
you in the area.
Loon Lodge
Just around the corner between our island and the
landing, this small island lodge has a snack bar where
you can get their famous “Loon Burgers”
(no, they’re not made from Loons), ice cream,
fries, etc. You can get there by canoe in about 5-10
minutes.
Deepwater Lodge
At the other end of the extreme, and about 5-10 more
minutes by canoe directly across from Loon Lodge,
this establishment offers Thai food and various other things. Licensed.
Bear Island
At the water’s edge right beside their main
docks in front of Mel’s Market, is a snack bar
that is sometimes open, selling ice cream cones and
the like. Not worth a special trip, because they might
not be open, but if you are in the area you could
take a look.
Temagami Shores
This Inn and Resort is located both on the highway
and the lake just south of town. Offers medium-priced
fare. Licensed.
Temagami Petro-Canada gas station
Located right as soon as you get into town (by car
or boat), this is a fast food restaurant which is
also a Subway/Country Style/Burgers Plus franchise.
Also sells newspapers, lottery tickets, etc.
Busy Bee Restaurant
Family restaurant in town.
Orient Garden
As expected, Chinese food, in town. Licensed
