Boating

At Stagger Inn we have a fleet of boats for our personal use and a smaller portion of that fleet for our guests’ use. We provide at no charge to our guests (except for gasoline) the use of a 15 ft. aluminum fishing boat equipped with a 25 hp Mercury outboard*, two 15 ft. fibreglass canoes, and a 10 ft. rowboat. Paddles, oars, and life jackets are provided, as well as all other required safety equipment.

* PCOC Card, CPS “Boat Pro”, USPS “Boat Smart”, CYA “Spark Start”, or equivalent minimum qualifications required to use the motor boat.

Guests bringing their own boats are guaranteed dock space. Gasoline and oil are available at the neighbouring marina, a 1-minute ride away across the bay.

Maps of the lake are available for your study in the dock lockers.

Other boats you will see moored there are a 15 ft. steel utility boat (almost everything built on the island since 1977 was in that boat at one time or another), a 16 ft Starcraft runabout owned by son Douglas (it was originally owned by his grandfather), our 27 ft. welded aluminum hardtop twin-engined cruiser, custom built for us by Stanley Boats in Parry Sound (you can see it in their catalogues and on their website) which we use to ferry our guests to and from the island. and our newest acquisition, a 20-ft pontoon boat which has taken over the freight-hauling duties of the old steel boat and also serves as a nice sight-seeing and picnic lunch vessel.
