GRANITE CORPORATE FINANCE ADVISORY SERVICES

financial advisors to corporations internationally

Our Approach to Mandates

Granite is not industry, size nor geographic specific - so whether your firm is an international corporation, a start-up, a public emerging company or a mid-sized privately held enterprise – Granite has the capacity to deliver meaningful corporate finance advisory solutions to your growth issues.

Granite undertakes assignments only once it has:

  1. had an opportunity to assess the company,

  2. gained a clear understanding of the specific objectives to be realized from the completion of the mandate - and -

  3. is comfortable that a high degree of probability exists for the mandate to be successfully completed - as envisioned.

Individual assignments end once the specific objective has been met.    However,  it is expected that the established relationship between Granite and the client firm continues through further stages of consulting.   Clients view Granite as the firm’s corporate finance advisors providing an on-going focus towards increasing corporate value and developing and implementing a range of strategies throughout the life of the firm.

The Situation Audit

All first-time assignments begin with a thorough research of the client company known as a ‘Situation Audit’.  The Situation Audit generally includes the following steps;

Definition of the ‘beginning’ objectives in the upcoming assignment

Review of the current internal and external status of the firm (including markets, products, organization, policies and regulatory/business environment) and history

Analysis and comparisons of the financial performance (historic and projected)

Identification of the hurdles and impediments to business expansion

Development of potential options open to the firm to achieve stated objectives

Appraisal of the impact on corporate value presented by each option
Recommendation of courses of action and methods to evaluate and control progress

At the end of the Situation Audit, the management of the client firm gains an independent review of the external and interior position of the corporation,  the factors exerting influences in the market place and their likely trends, an analysis of opportunities and hurdles, a review of the areas in need of concentration/correction and a list of recommendations for action with an accompanying analysis of the expected benefits that can be anticipated and the increased corporate value that can be created from the envisioned assignment.

The Situation Audit is critical from several standpoints.  Knowing the firm, its products/services, its markets and competitors, the firm’s internal organization and policies and the firm’s corporate objectives are all essential to the task of properly formulating corporate strategies and action plans to meet the assignment’s objectives.  Furthermore, the Situation Audit provides the point from which measurement is taken of the impact of the successful completion of assignments.

The fee for the Situation Audit is fixed and depends upon the size of the firm, the complexities of the issues to be addressed and the objectives to be met and any out-of-pocket expenses required to be covered. Normally, the completion of the Situation Audit takes 2 to 6 weeks.  Usually, a team of at least two senior financial experts (each with over 25 years experience in financial markets and in managing and growing companies) is assigned to the task.
