Peter Button

Peter holds a Grade A Teaching Certificate from his Bachelor of Education at the University of Regina.  In addition, he has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto with a double major in History and English Literature.  He spent 16 years teaching in Japan.  The first four were spent teaching and managing in private language schools.  The last twelve were spent in universities, teaching at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto University of Foreign Languages, and other fine institutions.  Presently he is teaching at St. Lawrence College in Cornwall, Ontario.  

ピーターはリジャイナ大学にて教育学士を取得、グレードAの教諭免許をもつ。またトロント大学にて歴史と英文学を専攻し、文学士も取得。日本において16年の英語教授歴。最初の４年間は語学学校にて教え、マネージメントにも関わる。その後12年間は立命館大学、京都外国語大学等で教える。現在、オンタリオ州コーンウォール市にあるセントローレンス　カレッジにて教鞭をとる。

Dave Dolan

Dave holds a Masters in TESOL and taught in Japan for 14 years.  After teaching in a private conversation school for 4 years, he opened up Daimatsu English Centre in Yokaichi in May, 1993.  Although he is now living in Canada, DEC continues to operate in Yokaichi, under three very capable instructors.  Dave still supplies materials and returns to teach, when possible.  Learn more about DEC here...

Akiko Nishibori    西堀 彰子

Akiko is the person you will most likely be contacting first.  She has 14 years experience teaching English, and holds a teachers license.  She is now living in Canada, and will be available to translate, intervene when problems occur, and also to act as a contact person for family back in Japan.  Akiko will also become involved in teaching when it is deemed appropriate.  Akiko is presently teaching piano, and some of her qualifications are listed below.  

西堀彰子は日本語で連絡、対応させて頂くことができる日本人スタッフ。八日市市姉妹都市である米国ミシガン州マーケット市の北ミシガン大学(Northern　Michigan　University)に1984－1985年度奨学生として９ヶ月間(academic year)在学。語学学校の英会話講師として３年間教えた後、DECにて英語教授を続ける。現在カナダでピアノを教える。
問題が生じた場合に通訳、間に入って対応させて頂いたり、日本のご家族との連絡も担当。適切と考えられる場合には英語教授に関わることもある。自身の留学体験、現地での生活体験を生かした対応をさせて頂きます。

DECC is a partnership which was established to provide foreign (mainly Japanese) students with an opportunity to study abroad.  With a combined 30 years of experience teaching in Japan, we feel we know and understand the students who may wish to join us in Canada.  As importantly, we know and understand the families who have chosen to send their loved ones away to learn English, and their absolute need for quality and safety… and piece of mind.  

DECCは外国人学生(主に日本人)に留学の機会を提供するために設立したパートナーシップです。二人合わせて30年におよぶ日本での英語教授経験から、私達はカナダに来たいと願う生徒の皆様のことを十分理解しています。と同時に、愛するお子様方を遠く離れた地に送ってでも英語を学ばせたい、そのために留学の質、安全性、そして安心して任せられることを願われるご家族のお気持ちも十分理解し、最重要に考えております。

Our goal is to provide professional English training in an enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere.  Learning can and should be fun, and that is what we stress.  However, we are very much aware that family finances are not limitless, and as such, quality of education must go hand-in-hand with fun.
