A few comments........

Hugh Van Melle

For over 50 years music has been my hobby and early in my working life I even considered becoming a professional musician. More than six years ago, I joined the "Don Bowes Big Band" which rehearsed every Sunday morning. Don started the band in 1984 and in addition to the week to week organizing of musicians and music, Don is an active musician, often on tenor sax, but also on Baritone Sax or Trombone.

This year's band was one of the best that I have ever played in and I felt that we should be able to produce something that many people will enjoy listening to for years to come. I know that many of Amhil's customers and suppliers, my associates at work and my "musician and "other" friends are aware of my interest in music, and if only to satisfy their curiosity, I will be distributing this recording to many of them.

On this recording we also featured Jan Laurie. I think that she is outstanding, and hope that through this recording, she will be able to further her music career.

       Jan Laurie
was born in London, England and raised in Melbourne, Australia. After studying piano and voice at Melbourne university, Jan performed  in clubs, hotels, theatre and composed and arranged for a commercial jingle house. Since coming to Canada, Jan pursued her musical career in Quebec and Ontario with numerous bands and as a solo artist. we are delighted that this talented singer contributed her exiting innovative approach to the wonderful music of the Big Band.
our lead trombonist, has directed the band since it started. Having gone through most of the various stages from preparation to recording to editing and mastering to the final CD, I want to thank him  for the time he took to prepare, organize, and complete this recording. Having gone through some of this with him, I now recognize and appreciate even more his dedication towards music, and his ability to direct us, and how he manages to share his passion with all of us.
   Rick Anderson
Our recording Engineer, has done an excellent job in recording and mixing  for us and it feels like he has been part of the band for years.
