KBradley's Story

To catch you up, my first AFF jump was great, until the landing. Had some problems burning off altitude on my approach. When my JM hopped on the radio and told me to give him a right turn, I did a 360', dropping me to low and skimmed the trees and slammed. Only my pride was brused. Jumped two more times that day. Listened better you can bet.

My 3rd AFF jump was at 13,500 from the twin Otter. Main mission was altitude, arch, legs and relax. I couldnt wait! My jump buddy was on his 7th jump. He hopped and popped from 5000'. First time we actually were in the same load together. MY TURN!!! Great exit and stabilized quickly. It really didnt hit that I was falling solo until I saw both Jump Masters in front of me. OH YEAH! This is what I have been waiting for (7 attemps, 3rd jump, weather realted delays!)

My mind was fixed on stability! I started to slowly spin left and dropped my shoulder and moved back. Beautiful fall! Pulled at 4500' (a bit low, hand slapped during debrief) checked canapy and was, strangly enough, please to see some line twist. Grabbed risers and pulled once, twice, checked altitude, pulled the third time, and ya know what they say, third was a charm. Had no radio contact coming in. Trying to burn off that darn altitude. A little high again. So rather then start turns at 500', I just picked out the next feild and softly landed there. Oh yeah, once I realized I hadnt done my PLF and I was standing there. I PLF'd. hahaha.

WOOO WHOOOOO!
