Clavius Community Notes 2003 INSTITUT DES HAUTES ÉTUDES SCIENTIFIQUES
in BURES-SUR-YVETTE, FRANCE
Meeting #41: 14 July to 14 August
The demand for summer appointments at the IHES has continued to increase since our last visit. Nevertheless, we were graciously provided with a small lecture room for our exclusive use, as well as a number of desks and computers. Available housing was limited to one large Pavillon and one studio. Besides accommodating three members, the Pavillon provided a a common liturgy area, kitchen, dining room, meeting and lounging area for the whole group, most of whom were housed in a hotel in Gif, the neighboring town. As has become the custom, members took turns preparing meals which were shared in common. Community life was vibrant and dynamic.Although the enjoyment of our stay in the Paris environs was tempered by the 2003 heat wave, a highlight was the group excursion to Monet's garden at Giverny.
