Indica's
story
Rather
than beat around the bush, making someone's story all frilly and
comfortable, I'm just going to get to the point.
I am a 37 yr. old mother, with Epilepsy, who suffers from 3-30 seizures a day. I suffer from the extreme pain and nausea of chronic pancreatitis. I also have periods of neuropathy where I experience weakness and paralysis sometimes confining me to a wheel chair. Besides these I also get migraine head-aches at least 3-5 per month, sometimes lasting anywhere from five hours and up to two or three days . I have been prescribed and taken the following medications for these diseases; ms contin 3 x 360 mg / day, fentenyl, demerol, oxycodone, oxycontin, codeine, hydro-morphone, percocet, nabilone (cesamet), stemetil, dimenhydrinate (Gravol IM), and maxeran, not to mention dozens of others to deal with the life destroying side-effects of these unnatural drugs. After being introduced to cannabis I approached my Internal Medicine specialist about the medicinal use of cannabis and he agreed to prescribe me 5 grams per day as a start. He helped me to apply for a federal license so I could possess up to 150 grams. I received my license from Health Canada in the summer of 2006. Since using cannabis either by eating, vapourizing, or smoking it, my seizures have been eliminated except for when either I forget to use it or can not obtain the prescribed amount. My pain has been abated without side-effects or addiction. It treats my nausea well and my appetite has improved. It also helps reduce my stress. In short, it has given me a big piece of my life back. I quit my job as a private investigator and limousine chauffeur when I became too ill. My family and I have been surviving on the Ontario Disability Support Program. I pay for my cannabis out of my own pocket as it is not covered like other prescription drugs. Port Dalhousie - I was prepared for a confrontation with police by obnoxiously smoking my medical marijuana in public but some police officers have a more reasonable, relaxed, common-sense attitude towards cannabis and just ignore me. Most people I meet support the use of cannabis, especially for medicinal purposes. However our rights here in Canada and elsewhere are very fragile, and they could be lost if not strengthened. That is why I decided to become a political activist, educate the public and the politicians, and fight for freedom, health, and happiness. |
