The Black Cats of North America is an eCommunity of Sunderland AFC supporters, spread across the breadth of Canada and dotted about the US and various offshore locations. Our aim is to provide information for fellow exiled supporters and to arrange and inform them of get-togethers whenever the North American satellite / cable providers deign to show the Lads live (or live-ish).

We are proud to have a flag, on the middle tier of the North Stand at the Stadium of Light, with the other SAFC supporters branches.

The group started out in 1996 as the Toronto #1 Supporters Branch, and with the Lads playing in the top division there were plenty of opportunities to get together and watch games. However, as the club's fortunes dwindled, so did the interest, until 2000 when the Toronto #1 Branch was superseded by the Black Cats of North America, with Jim Higginson continuing to provide email newsletters on SAFC to anyone who showed an interest.

This season, match coverage will be with Irish channel Setanta showing all the "Championship" games which are covered by BSkyB in the UK... and the plan, at least for those in and around Toronto, is to once again meet up in Scallywags for a few beers and to hopefully cheer the team back towards the Premiership.
