OLD SLED
HISTORY
INTERNATIONAL SNOWMOBILE
COMPETITION 1967 In 1967, over 5,000 spectators took in
The Kawartha Cup races at
the Lakefield Fairgrounds in February - it was 22
Degrees Farenheit ( -6 Celcius). This was when Snowmobile Racing was
becoming a 'hot sport' in Canada. Bob Eastman, an American riding a
747cc Polaris, walked off with the Cup with a total score of 51 in
three events - cross country, speed and Slabstacle (Slalom and
obstacle). In the feature event, the cross country, 96 snowmobiles
headed into the bush - many of whom suffered mechanical failures and
drivers got bumps and bruises. One sled caused some excitement
when it became riderless and headed toward the stands, causing frozen
spectators to scatter! The Following Photos
are from that race:

for the run. Is that a headlight falling out??
