Welcome to the SORA Seminar Series on Analytics in Business & Industry.
The series features speakers from both academia and business
discussing new advances, case studies and other topics of interest
in a free series running roughly 4 seminars a year in Toronto.
This series was formerly (1999 - 2006) known as the
SORA Seminar Series on Statistics In Finance & Marketing.

Mandate of the seminar series:
- Provide free, local continuing education opportunities for analysts throughout the city
- Providing exposure for students (both graduate & undergraduate)
to see what is going on in the
real world
- Give both analysts, students and academics a chance to network with other analytical types
- Provide a forum for speakers to discuss their work and new ideas
SORA is the Southern Ontario Regional Association of
both the Statistical Society of Canada and
the American Statistical Association.
They provide a not-for-profit sponsorship for the program and some funding,
but otherwise the series is totally run by the committee.
